Police say a cash machine has been stolen after a vehicle was driven into the entrance of Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire. 

Police say a cash machine has been stolen after a vehicle was driven into the entrance of Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire. 

It happened on Tuesday at 5:35am when alarms at the site were activated.

A statement from Leicestershire Police said no other items were believed to have been stolen and no animals were injured or taken. 

Twycross Zoo is open but a spokesperson said as the investigation is active the Zoo would not be making any comment. 

The full statement from Leicestershire Police is here: 

"Officers responded to an alarm activation at Twycross Zoo yesterday at around 5.35am yesterday (16 April). On arrival, it was found an ATM machine had been stolen from the main entrance to the zoo. No-one was in the area at the time and no injuries have been reported. No other items are believed to have been stolen and no harm is believed to have been caused to any animals. Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with any information should contact 101 quoting incident 19000192518."
