Event will involve applicants being interviewed on day

A recruitment day for a variety of full and part-time highways, transport and waste management roles with Leicestershire County Council takes place on Friday 10th May (11am - 6.30pm).

The event, at County Hall, Glenfield LE3 8RA, will give visitors the opportunity to talk to staff already doing the jobs and ask questions.

There will also be people on hand to help with the application process and applicants will have the chance to be interviewed for some of the vacancies on the day.

Available positions include:

  • Highways operatives across a variety of roles and levels;
  • School crossing patrols
  • Drivers with varying hours and locations
  • Escorts with varying hours and locations

There are also opportunities for casual appointments with information available on waste site advisory roles, HGV driver positions, trainee roles and apprenticeships.

Transport officer Hemant Parekh, said: “When I was recruited, it started as a temporary stop gap for four months - five years on and I’m still here. Coming to work gives me the satisfaction of knowing that the small role I play makes a big difference to the lives of others.

“The council has a strong ethos of personal development, and, through on-going courses, I’m continually given the chance to build upon my existing knowledge.”

Our teams play a huge role in the work being done, and we’re always looking to recruit dedicated and enthusiastic people

Blake Pain, cabinet member for environment and transport

Anyone planning on attending the recruitment day should report to main reception on arrival, with the last entry at 6pm.
