The event will still go ahead as planned on Sunday 11th August.

Organisers of Hinckley Feast, a food festival in Argents Mead, have taken the decision to cancel the event on Saturday 10th August because of heavy rain and strong winds forecast.

In an email to traders, John Coward from Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council said:

"The safety of all involved is of paramount importance as you’ll understand. On this basis and very reluctantly we have made the decision to cancel the SATURDAY of Feast Hinckley for safety reasons. The Sunday is planned to go ahead as normal with forecast being favourable at present. We anticipate the Sunday of Feast to be very busy and would like all vendors to attend and hopefully enjoy a very good day with us."

Hinckley Feast is a two day free entry food and drink festival supported by Fosse 107.

John Coward, said: “We have been watching the weather forecast for this weekend closely, hoping that the forecast of severe weather will change, but this morning the Met Office upgraded the weather warning for Saturday to yellow with strong winds expected during the day, it left us with no choice but to cancel Saturday’s event. With thousands of people expected to descend on Argents Mead this weekend and with marquees and cooking equipment around, we can’t run the risk of anyone being hurt.”

“Fortunately, Sunday’s weather forecast is good so Feast will go ahead as planned on Sunday 11 August, with the event extended to run from 10am until 6pm.  Parking is free in all council run car parks on Sunday so we hope everyone who planned to come along on Saturday will join us on Sunday instead.

“The organisers and the vendors alike are all absolutely devastated, especially after all of the work we have all put into organising it; we apologise to everyone for the disappointment this will cause.”

The free to enter food and drink festival will feature vendors offering a range of national and international cuisine, live music and a 120ft giant inflatable assault course sponsored by Hinckley BID.
