A 19-year-old man from Nuneaton was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder before being taken to hospital where he was treated for a stab wound. He has since been released and is currently in police custody.

A 15-year-old boy from Cannock and 16-year-old boy from Nuneaton were also arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and are currently in police custody.

At 7.02pm on Monday 15th July, police were called to a report of violence in Queens Road. Following this disorder was also reported in Mount Street, Coton Road and Pool Bank Recreation Ground.

Superintendent Mike Smith said: "Following the appalling scenes in Nuneaton last night I would like to reassure local people that we have launched a thorough investigation to identify those responsible for the disorder to ensure they are quickly brought to justice.

"The violence occurred across a number of different sites so detectives are working hard to establish exactly what happened and who was involved.

"At this time we believe that all those involved were known to each other and other members of the public were not targeted.

"I would like to thank local people who provided support to our officers last night as they responded to this incident.

"Our local Safer Neighbourhood Team will be conducting high visibility patrols in the town and working closely with the local community to provide reassurance following this incident."

Detectives have set up an e-mail address for anyone who can provide information, CCTV, mobile phone footage or dashcam footage of what happened.
