Popular food festival success defies the weather

Foodies were undeterred and packed into Argents Mead in their thousands for Sunday’s festival.

Feast Hinckley, the free entry event which is organised by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, was originally due to take place on Saturday and Sunday but Saturday’s event had to be cancelled late last week following a severe weather warning for high winds.

It appears to have been the biggest food and drink festival in Hinckley to date.

Over 45 food and drink vendors descended on Argents Mead with a range of local, national and international cuisine represented. Sixty five additional wooden picnic benches were set up in the Mead along with a large open sided marquee to provide shelter or shade.

There was live music and of course we, Fosse 107, were in attendance. A giant 120ft inflatable assault course, sponsored by Hinckley BID, kept the children entertained.

Executive Member for Culture, Leisure, Tourism and Town Centres at the Borough Council, Cllr Keith Nichols, said:

After the disappointment of Saturday’s cancellation, it was fantastic to see so many people supporting the event on Sunday. The rain mostly stayed away and there was an amazing atmosphere in Argents Mead and the town centre as a whole was buzzing with so many people out sampling the food and drink on offer and enjoying the wonderful surroundings of Argents Mead.

I’d like to thank everyone who came along and supported the event, the traders for the delicious array of food and drink and the organising staff for all of their hard work.

I hope visitors are already looking forward to the event next year.
