A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a crash in Loughborough.
Police were called to a collision involving a red BMW 5 series car shortly after 12am on Sunday (17th May) on the A512 Ashby Road.
The car was travelling towards the town centre when it left the road before colliding with street furniture and a wall which in turn damaged five unattended parked cars.
The driver of the car, a man in his thirties, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said "Following initial enquiries, a 22-year-old man, of Loughborough has been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail."
Detective Constable John Borlase, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation unit, said: "While we have made this arrest, we continue to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or seen the vehicle prior to the collision to make contact.
"Alternatively anyone who may have dashcam footage relating to the collision, is asked to make contact with the police."
