Charnwood Borough Council has welcomed new chief executive Rob Mitchell into the role.

Rob, formerly chief executive officer at Ashfield District Council in Nottinghamshire, has taken over from Geoff Parker who retired recently.

Cllr Jonathan Morgan, leader of the Council, said: “I am delighted to welcome Rob to Charnwood and look forward to what I am sure is an exciting future.

“Rob brings a wealth of experience and plenty of ideas to help make this Council even stronger in the future so we can better serve our residents and communities.

“I must place on record my thanks to Geoff and we wish him a very happy retirement. Geoff has been a fantastic servant to local government and he has played a key role in making Charnwood the strong and stable organisation it is today.”

Rob, who lives in the borough with his family and was previously a director at Tamworth Borough Council, said: “I am delighted to be at Charnwood and look forward to working with staff and members to deliver outstanding services to our communities.

“I am also looking forward to working with the Council’s partners as collaboration is key to successful service delivery.”
