The snake is made up of more than 800 painted pebbles and families are being asked to collect more.

A collection of carefully painted pebbles forming the body of a snake has appeared in Shepshed.

It is located by off Charnwood Road and a poster at the head of the snake says it was started by Conner Stayte.

Families have been visiting the site to add more painted stones to the snake during half term.

The poster reads:

"Hello boys and girls. My name is Nagina the Covid19 snake. I was wondering if you could help me...

As you can see I don't have much of a body, so your task is to make me as long as you can by painting rocks and adding them to me.

You are very welcome to pick me up and take a photo but please put me back so all the other children can watch me grow.

Let the fun begin. x"

It is not known when the snake first appeared but now it has more than 800 stones making up the body of the snake.
