Limited garden waste service continues in Charnwood

Charnwood Borough Council continues to focus resources on maintaining recycling and refuse collections.

The Council resumed the service on 20th April 20 emptied customers’ garden waste bins, once over a four-week period. 

It says it will carry out another four weekly cycle starting on Monday 18th May.

The collection schedule of the previous four weeks will be repeated and continue to focus on different areas of the borough each week.

Cllr Leigh Harper-Davies, lead member for major contracts said: “We will be doing another four weeks of a reduced garden waste service as we are still having to focus resources on refuse and recycling collections.

“We have received positive feedback from customers who have been pleased to see the service return.

 “We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause but these are unprecedented times. The service is being reviewed regularly and we will restore a full service as soon as it is possible to do so.

“We would like to thank customers for their understanding and ongoing support of our refuse collectors. They continue to work hard to collect waste across the borough every day so I would also like to pass my thanks onto all of them.”

The service which has over 30,000 customers, was suspended in March due to staff shortages caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

For week commencing May 18, the Council will be emptying garden waste bins in the following locations:

West of Loughborough (list of streets)
Burton
Cotes
Hathern
Hoton
Prestwold
Walton
Wymeswold
Quorn
Rothley
Swithland
Woodhouse
Woodhouse Eaves
Customers are advised to put their bins out by 6am on the Monday of the week they are due to be collected (regardless of what the usual collection day is). They are asking customers to leave bins out until they have been emptied as it may not be until later in the week.
