Teenagers, aged 16 and 17, are being given the opportunity to gain experience behind the wheel before starting practical driving lessons.

‘Pre-driver days’ are run at Mallory Park race track near Hinckley throughout the year, with the next event taking place on Thursday, 31 May.

I’ve been along to one of the courses, they’re really fun and exciting and I’d really encourage people to sign up.

"They can be so helpful and I was told during my visit the course could be as good as the equivalent of a handful of driving lessons.

The sessions, which include a variety of workshops, involve getting behind the wheel of a car and gaining practical experience. They also cover issues relating to speed, impairment, distraction, the Highway Code and general road safety.
