Roll up! Roll up! The fair returns to Loughborough

Loughborough will experience all the fun of the fair as the four-day event rolls into town on Wednesday November 13, 2019.

The historic fair, which is in its 798th year, is organised by Charnwood Borough Council and attracts thousands of people every year.

Cllr Jenny Bokor, Charnwood Borough Council’s lead member for Loughborough, said: “It’s amazing to think the fair has been coming to Loughborough for nearly 800 years. It’s such an important event for the town and we’re looking forward to once again welcoming residents and visitors to Loughborough.

“There will be plenty for the whole family to enjoy including a wide range of rides, stalls and games.”

The fair will include a host of rides including King Frog, Top Scan, Freak Out, Miami Trip and old favourites such as the Cakewalk and Dodgems.  The big observation wheel will also return this year offering fantastic views of the town.

The fair will be officially opened at 6pm on Wednesday, November 13 by the Mayor of Charnwood, Cllr Brenda Seaton who will read the official fair proclamation.

Granby Street car park will be closed from 5pm on Monday, November 11 until around 9am on Sunday, November 16.

Wednesday, November 13, 6pm to 11pm

Thursday, November 14, 12pm to 11pm

Friday, November 15, 11am to 11pm

Saturday, November 16, 11am to 11pm

The first official Charter for the fair was granted to the Lord of the Manor, Hugh le Despencer, in 1221 by King Henry III. The fair was then held on St. Peter’s Day.
