Sunday 7th April saw the return of The Loughborough half marathon and team relay.

Organised by the Loughborough based charity Living Without Abuse, all the money raised from the event goes towards the charity’s vital and much needed work of supporting men, women and children in the Leicestershire area who have had their lives shattered by domestic abuse.

Living Without Abuse’s Event Organiser Gina King said: “I am absolutely amazed at the amount we raise from this event, £18,000 this year and we could not do it without everybody playing their part. So a huge thank you to all of the entrants, the volunteers and the sponsors who help us pay for the growing costs of the event which can be as much as £8,000. Special thanks to Duncan & Toplis and Arch Communications who are our main sponsors for the event, but thanks must also go to A Plan Insurance and We love surveys and all the other local businesses who also played a main part in sponsoring and supporting the event. A full list of all the sponsors can be found on the Loughborough Half website as we really are grateful for every single penny that is given to us.”

LWA are already planning next years event and are looking to add a 5 and 10k race into the equation to encourage more people to get active and take part in a local event whilst raising money for a much-needed local charity.

We will be looking for sponsors and volunteers to get involved in this exciting venture please contact gina@lwa.org or call 07557 770561 for further information.
