Two men sentenced for Loughborough burglaries.

Josh Kind and Clayton Goodwin were sentenced for their part in burglaries in Loughborough

Vehicles were stolen in the burglaries, which were committed in March this year, after properties were entered and car keys were stolen.

All the vehicles have since been recovered and following work to track those responsible, as well as police patrols in the area, arrests and charges were made.

18-year-old Josh Kind (pictured left) and 23-year-old Clayton Goodwin (pictured right) were sentenced after both pleaded guilty to a burglary at a property in Pantain Road which happened on 26 March this year.

Kind, of Manor Drive, Loughborough, also admitted the burglary of a property in Outwoods Drive, Loughborough two days later.

Goodwin, of a different address in Manor Drive, Loughborough, pleaded guilty to assisting in the retention or removal of a stolen vehicle in relation to a Ford Fiesta car which was stolen during a burglary in Thurmaston in April.

Kind was sentenced to two years and nine months in a young offender’s institution while Goodwin was jailed for two years and nine months.

The burglary at Pantain Road was committed during the early hours of 26 March this year. The property was entered, car keys were stolen and two vehicles from outside the property were stolen.

The burglary at Outwoods Drive, which Kind admitted, was committed during the early hours of 28 March. Again the property was entered with car keys and two vehicles being stolen.

Investigative work including extensive CCTV enquiries, analysis of the vehicles stolen as well as police patrols in the area, information received from the public and enquiries being carried out in relation to the defendants led to the arrests being made.

Detective Constable Stephen Henderson said: “I am aware that the offences committed by these two defendants caused huge concern among residents in Loughborough as it did to ourselves.

“People were in the properties at the time of the burglaries which were committed and it is fortunate no-one was injured as a result.

“Thorough investigative work was carried out by a team of officers, as well as police patrols in the area with officers acting on information from the public which led to the arrests being made.

“Following this work, both Kind and Goodwin had to accept responsibility for their parts in the crimes leading to both of them pleading guilty and being sentenced for their actions.

“My thanks go to the victims of these offences for their co-operation with our enquiries as well as to the public who provided information and the officers who worked on the case. This has all resulted in these convictions.

“We will not tolerate these crimes being committed and this distress being caused to residents and will do all we can to ensure those responsible are brought to justice and face the courts.”
