SMARTS (St. Mary's Arts) Lunchtime Concert

SMARTS (St. Mary's Arts) present a Lunchtime Concert at St. Mary's Church, Hinckley on Wednesday 10th April starting at 1pm lasting about 50 minutes.
'Chanson Swing' is a duo of two local musicians, featuring the vocal talents of Sophie-Jayne Holder along with her husband - best know for his inimitable jazz violin playing - Ben Holder on piano.
Their programme will blend French 'Chansons' from the repertoire of Edith Piaf, Charles Trenet and Yves Montand with a nod to Spanish Cancion from Consuelo Velasquez. Also included will be
jazz standards from the likes of George Gershwin, Etta James (via Harry Warren) and perhaps even an easy-listening version of a couple of 21st century numbers. Ben will also move to violin and accompany himself on piano (with the aid of technology!) for a few tunes by composers such as W.C. Handy (St. Louis Blues) and Manning Sherwin (A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square).
