The beautiful and varied gardens of Willoughby on the Wolds will once again be open to the public for this year’s Open Gardens event, with a number of gardens opening for the first time this year. The event is always well attended and popular both with locals and with those who come from further afield – everyone is very welcome!

By popular demand Willoughby on the Wolds Open Gardens is back again this year. The date for this year's Open Gardens is Sunday 16th June from 12 noon until 5pm so why not make Fathers day that extra bit special as an afternoon out with the family?

There will be 12 gardens opening this year, allowing time for visitors to see most of the magnificent and different gardens on show. Many of these gardens will be opening for the first time so something different if you have visited us before

As you stroll through the village why not take time to stop off for a glass of Pimms, or have a glass of wine and some tasty traditional French bites at our “Little Taste of France, or start your journey with a Ploughman's lunch at the Village Hall? Throughout the afternoon there will be tea, coffee and delicious homemade cakes on sale.

There will be something of interest for everyone including a scavenger hunt for kids, pots for children to decorate and plant with seeds for them to take home, a tour of Willoughby Woods with our resident Tree Warden as your guide, plant sales, a display of patchwork quilts at St Mary and All Saints Church plus the opportunity to view the rare Alabaster collection .

We have recently adopted a biodiversity policy for the village. One initiative underway is the adoption of hedgehog byways to protect our local hedgehog population. Packages will be on sale at the Village Hall.

Programmes, incorporating a map of what is happening and where and when, will be available on entry at each garden or venue. .Entry fee for all gardens and attractions £5.00 per person over 18 years. All gardens and plant sale venues will accept cash only. Credit card facilities will be at two venues - the Village Hall and “A Little Taste of France”. Both these venues will also accept payment in cash.

Our Open Gardens was a huge success in 2022, enabling £4,200 to be donated to village groups as well as to four charities (Rainbows Hospice, The Children’s Air Ambulance, Music for Everyone and a local charity The Tomorrow Project). Why not help us continue to raise funds for village groups and nominated charities whilst having a great day out with all the family this Fathers Day.
