Food waste: Your new bin and how to use it

Mark Foster from the breakfast show has been asked by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council to try out the new kitchen caddy's that are being delivered to homes across the Borough. 

Yes, it's a new bin - but this one is different. 

You've got a caddy for the kitchen to take your tea bags and plate scrapings and a bigger outdoor bin that will be emptied every week with your other standard brown/blue or black bins at the kerbside. 

The new waste service is Government funded. 

All homes in the Borough will get a bin by the end of March. See when yours will be delivered here.

Hints/Tips:  

• Use the roll of compostable liners that come with the bin - but after that it's up to you. Use whatever you want because bags are removed when the waste is processed. 
• Food waste is collected by different vehicles but on the same day as your other bin is collected - so make sure you leave them out! 
• The locks on the bins keep out pests. 
• Empty the caddy regularly in to your outside bin.
