Enzo Fernandez transfer news: Man City remain interested in Chelsea midfielder despite missing deadline to make bid

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez remains a target for Manchester City in the final two weeks of the transfer window.

City will decide whether to try to sign him before Deadline Day, after opting not to make an offer before last week's cut-off set by Chelsea.

Fernandez can no longer automatically leave Stamford Bridge for the £120m terms agreed with his representatives in May.

The deadline for that passed at 5pm on Friday - but the transfer window is still open until Tuesday September 1.

Fernandez came on to boos from sections of the Chelsea crowd in the 3-1 friendly win over Real Sociedad on Saturday.

The Argentina World Cup finalist was suspended for two matches towards the end of last season after casting doubt over his future while on international duty.

That was amid reports of interest from Real Madrid, who subsequently ruled out a move for him in early July via an official club statement.

Man City remain in Bouaddi talks

Meanwhile, City remain in talks with Lille over a deal for Morocco international midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi as they pursue replacements for Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders.

Lille are understood to be looking for around £85m to sell Bouaddi and talks between the clubs were confirmed by their head coach Davide Ancelotti at the weekend.

Reijnders is set to join Saudi Arabian side Al Qadsiah for around £51m.

Rodri set for Barcelona medical

Rodri is set to undergo his Barcelona medical ahead of completing a £65.4m move from Manchester City.

The Spain World Cup winner and former Ballon d'Or holder, who helped City to four Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph, is expected to sign a four-year contract.

The 30-year-old had one year left on his contract and while Man City wanted him to stay and sign an extension, Barcelona's third offer proved to be too good to turn down. He has agreed a four-year deal with Barcelona.

Last week, Barcelona had an initial offer in the region of £40m knocked back, returning with a £55m bid, which was also rejected.

Is Fernandez worth two Rodris? Transfer valuations explained

Barcelona have agreed a £65.4m fee to sign Rodri from Man City while Chelsea value Enzo Fernandez at £120m - but why does the Argentina player have a much higher transfer value?

Rodri is a four-time Premier League title winner who was named player of the tournament at the World Cup with Spain. And yet Chelsea are demanding almost twice as much for Fernandez.

Between the Lines, the Sky Sports strand that unpicks the data behind football's biggest stories, explains what goes into player transfer valuations as this summer's spending continues.

Factors such as youth, contract length, form and club strength all contribute to a transfer value.
