45 medals for Loughborough athletes at Commonwealth Games

Loughborough University-linked athletes have closed out the 2026 Commonwealth Games having won a mammoth 45 medals.

The final day of action in Glasgow brought another two silvers to the total, with a final count of 10 gold, 20 silver and 15 bronze.

Loughborough’s incredible collective performance means that if classed as an independent nation, it would have finished sixth in the medal table, ahead of Malaysia, South Africa, and New Zealand.

There was more Loughborough glory to the very end as track cyclist Joe Truman stormed to silver in the Men’s 1000m Time Trial. The current student’s time of 59.525 was enough to secure second place and confirm his second silver medal overall in the Championships.

In Netball, Jamaica’s trio of former Loughborough Lightning players – Shamera Sterling-Humphrey, Rhea Dixon, and Brie Grierson – also won a brilliant silver medal. Although the Sunshine Girls lost out 56-48 to New Zealand in the final, a second-place finish will be seen as an incredible achievement.
