Police are appealing for witnesses to incident that happened just before 5pm on Sunday 18 April.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was riding a motorcycle on the A5 Watling Street when a red van pulled in front of him, causing him to stop.
A man got out of the van and pushed the motorcyclist to the ground. He suffered a broken arm and dislocated elbow as a result of the fall.
The driver of the van fled the scene.
PC Adam Hicks, the investigating officer, said: “Please cast your mind back to that Sunday evening – were you travelling on the A5 in Burbage? Did you see what happened?
“I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or any motorists with dashcams in their vehicles. Any information you have could help my investigation.”
