A competition has been launched to find a young person to switch on Loughborough’s Christmas lights in front of thousands of people this November. The council has teamed up with Fosse 107 and Love Loughborough to find the lucky winner.
A youngster from Charnwood could have the honour of switching on Loughborough’s Christmas lights in front of thousands of people.
Charnwood Borough Council has joined forces with Fosse 107 and Love Loughborough to launch the Light up Loughborough competition ahead of the town’s festive celebrations on Friday, 27 November 2026.
The competition is open to children aged between five and 16 who live in the borough of Charnwood.
Parents and guardians are being invited to nominate a young person and explain why they deserve to be chosen to switch on the town’s festive lights.
The winner will receive a family ticket to this year’s pantomime, Dick Whittington, at Loughborough Town Hall, along with a £50 Love Loughborough voucher.
Loughborough town centre traditionally attracts thousands of people for the annual Christmas lights switch-on, marking the start of the festive season.
Entries must be submitted by a parent or guardian, and the nominated youngster must be available to attend the switch-on on Friday, 27 November 2026.
To enter the competition, visit the Light up Loughborough entry page.
