Coalville will be filled with colour as a charity fun run returns to the town for the third consecutive year on Sunday 16 September.
Leicestershire-based charity Living Without Abuse (LWA) is teaming up with main sponsor North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) to organise the popular run, with all funds raised going towards the charity’s work to support children and adults who have suffered from domestic violence in the Leicestershire area.
At several points along the route, volunteers will cannon paint of all different colours onto the runners, while onlookers and marshals cheer them on.
Last year 650 runners helped raise over £8,000 for LWA, and the charity is hoping to do even better this year.
The run is organised by Living Without Abuse and benefits from a £2,500 grant from North West Leicestershire District Council through its Choose Coalville scheme, and is also supported by a number of local businesses.
Registration is now open online
Volunteers are also required to help support the charity event. To find out more email gina@lwa.org.uk
Gina King, Head of Fund-raising at Living Without Abuse, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be bringing this brilliant event back to Coalville for the third year running. The funds raised by the runners help us hugely in delivering our services to people in need across Leicestershire.
“The run is fun for all the family and registration is open so don’t hesitate in getting signed up! A huge thank you to NWLDC and all our sponsors for their financial support which allows us to put this fantastic event on.”
Councillor Alison Smith MBE, Portfolio Holder for Community Services at NWLDC, said: “This is proving to be one of the most popular events in the Coalville calendar and we’re delighted to be sponsoring the run again.
“It’s huge fun for families and raises crucial funds for an important charity. It also brings an exciting event to Coalville, attracting people from far and wide to the town and showing them some of the hidden corners that we’re really proud of.
“Hopefully we see more runners than ever before and a great sum of money raised for Living Without Abuse, a charity that does such important work in our communities.”
The Colour Run is an approximately 5km course that will take place in and around the centre of Coalville, starting at the Market Hall car park, running alongside the precinct, over to Coalville Town Football Club, taking in Snibston Country Park and the Urban Forest Adventure Park, passing Memorial Square and finishing in Coalville Park. Four colour stations dotted around the route will blast runners with colour.
