Charnwood Borough Council says the substance was baking powder.
Charnwood Borough Council had to be evacuated this afternoon (Friday 29th October) after a white powder was found in an envelope that had been delivered to its offices.
Southfields has been evacuated due to a white powder incident. We are following our processes & working with the fire services.

The incident was reported to emergency services at around 10am and the offices on Southfield Road in Loughborough were evacuated. At 1pm the council confirmed on its twitter account that the substance was harmless and that the offices had reopened.
The substance has been confirmed as baking powder & harmless. The offices have been re-opened.
