A market stall and workshops will provide information throughout the week.
National Hate Crime Awareness takes place this week from the 9th to the 16th October.
Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council is raising awareness of crimes that target a person for their race, ethnicity or nationality, for their disability, their gender or sexual orientation, or their religion, faith or beliefs.
There will be a focus on the LGBT+ community this year, as people in the LGBT+ community are less likely to report hate crime.
Councillor Michael Mullaney, Executive Member for Housing and Community Safety at the Borough, said: “I welcome the work that is going on in the borough to increase awareness of hate crimes and encourage anyone being targeted because of who they are to report it.”
Council officers, a local LGBT+ group and the police will also be at Hinckley market this Saturday from 10am-2pm, giving information about local support, how to report hate crime and tips on keeping safe.
Hate crime and hate incidents can be reported on the Leicestershire Police website or by calling the police on 101.
