A cyclist is in a serious condition in hospital after being involved in a collision with a van in Hinckley.
It happened just before 5am on Sunday morning, 6th April, on Ashby Road, Hinckley.
Both the van – a grey Renault Trafic van – and the cyclist were travelling towards Hinckley on Ashby Road.
The cyclist, a man in his 40s, sustained serious injuries and is currently in hospital receiving treatment.
The driver of the van, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and for causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He has been interviewed and released on police bail while enquiries continue.
There were a number of road closures in place to allow investigation work to be carried out. The road has since been reopened.

DC Louise Hough, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are asking anyone who saw the van or a cyclist in the moments before the collision to contact us. Any dashcam footage will also help our investigation.
“This collision has left a cyclist with serious, life-changing injuries, and we want to understand the movements of the van immediately prior to the collision.”
