Officers are appealing for motorists, who may have dashcam footage of the two cars involved in a fatal collision, to come forward.
At 10.49pm on Saturday night (18 August) a collision involving a silver Citroen Picasso and a black Ford Fiesta happened on the A46 northbound, between the slip roads for the A6 and Wanlip.
Two people in the Picasso died at the scene.
The driver of the Fiesta was taken to hospital with minor injuries but has since been discharged.
Detective Constable Alison Briance from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the incident and is particularly keen to trace any dashcam footage of the collision or the two cars prior the incident.
She said: “If anyone who was travelling along the A46 around the time of the collision has any dashcam footage showing the Picasso or the Fiesta please can you contact police.
“I am keen to piece together the movements of both cars prior to the collision and any footage drivers have could assist with the investigation.”
A 26-year-old man from Northamptonshire has been arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol and causing death by dangerous driving and has been released under investigation.
Anyone with footage or any information which could help with enquiries is asked to call 101, quoting incident 781 of 18 August.
