Leicestershire Police are appealing for witnesses or dash cam footage due to a collision on the A46 between Thrusssington and Sileby on 13th December 2025
Leicestershire Police
Three people have died in a single-vehicle collision on the A46 city bound between Thrussington and Sileby in the early hours of Saturday morning (13 December).
The police were called at 1.01am, by a fourth person, who was also in the car at the time of the collision. She has suffered minor injuries.
The car – a blue BMW 5 series – was travelling southbound when it left the road.
Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) have been working throughout the night and today at the scene to gather evidence and to begin to establish what has happened.
The A46 was closed in both directions immediately following the collision. The northbound carriageway has since been re-opened.
The city bound carriageway remains closed and is expected to be so until Sunday (14 December) to allow for a full forensic investigation to be carried out.
A 37-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is in police custody.
DC Madeleine Hayes from SCIU said: “This is a tragic incident with three people losing their lives.
“We know the car was travelling on the A46 from Nottingham. I’d like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area who may have witnessed events leading up to the collision.
“I would ask that people view their dashcam footage between 12.30am and 1.05am to help police with their enquiries.
“We are working to understand what led the car to leave the carriageway and any information from witnesses may be helpful in establishing this.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 35 of 13 December.
