Flights had to be suspended at East Midlands Airport after 'technical difficulties' with training plane

Normal Operations' had to be suspended at East Midlands Airport following technical problems with a training aircraft

Fire crews were immediately on the scene and nobody was hurt

The T6 aircraft was removed from the runway and operations are no back underway

It was reported that flights had to be rerouted to Birmingham Airport.

An East Midlands Airport spokesperson said:

"A Harvard T6 aircraft (reg. KF183) which is used for training purposes, encountered a technical issue upon landing at East Midlands Airport this morning. Our fire teams were on the scene immediately and fortunately the two crew were unharmed.

"The aircraft, which is currently resting on the grass adjacent to the runway, is in the process of being removed and normal operations will resume shortly.”

They later added:

"Normal operations have now resumed.”
