An eight-week consultation is seeking views on proposed changes to the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) for 0-10 year olds and young people aged 11 and over.
An eight-week consultation, which runs until Friday, 17 September, is seeking views on proposed changes to the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) for 0-10 year olds and children and young people aged 11 and over.
The HCP provides a service for children and families to improve their physical and mental health. It is available for children and young people aged 0-19 and young people up to age 25 who have SEND (special educational needs and disabilities), or who have left care at 18 years.
Views are being sought on six high-impact areas outlined by the Government, as well as additional priorities identified locally.
These include supporting maternal and family mental health, the transition to parenthood, breastfeeding, healthy weight, and nutrition as well as improving health literacy to reduce accidents and minor illnesses and supporting health, wellbeing, and development.
Councillor Louise Richardson, cabinet member for health, said: “We're committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our children and young people.
"Having the right support at the right time is crucial and by supporting families and carers we can have a positive impact on the physical and mental health of our children and young people. I would encourage everyone who might use these services now, and in the future, to share their views with us.”
