Firefighters were called to a house on Ashby Road in Coalville in the early hours of this morning.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said crews received a call at 1:16am reporting lightning had struck the roof of a property on Ashby Road which had caught fire.
When they arrived, the loft area of the property, that is near to Hoo Ash Island, was well alight.
Two engines from Coalville, one engine from Ashby and Loughborough and the Command Support Vehicle from Shepshed, the Aerial Ladder Platform from Birstall and the Incident Support Unit from Oakham were all in attendance.
Crews tackled the blaze through the night to stop the blaze spreading to neighbouring properties.
There were no reports of any casualties.
