Police were called to investigate a suspicious package overnight.
Police were called to Herbert Street in Loughborough just after midnight (23rd February) to a report of a suspicious package delivered to the property.
Officers attended and in interests of public safety and as a precautionary measure, police placed a cordon on at the property and evacuated a number of homes in the surrounding area.
Specialist officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit were called to attend the location and examined the package which was declared safe.
The cordon has since been removed and residents have been allowed to return to their homes.
Officers would like to thank all those affected by the incident especially those evacuated for their assistance and understanding.
Investigations are in their early stages and enquiries are being carried out in relation to the incident.
