Leicestershire school children asked to enter competition, but will it end up being Gritty McGritface?
Primary school children across Leicestershire have until the end of today (21 Dec) to name a new gritter.
Leicestershire County Council want suggestions from children aged between five and 11.
The child with the winning name will be visited by “their” gritter and its crew and its name will be painted on as part of its livery.
Councillor Blake Pain, cabinet member for highways, said: “Gritters are a vital part of keeping the county’s roads safe during the winter months.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what inventive suggestions pupils can come up with. It is a great way for youngsters to get involved and learn about the challenges of winter weather.”
Entries can be submitted here...  https://leicestershirecc-self.
The winner will be announced in January.
