The northbound exit slip road approaching J23 remains closed.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue are at the scene of a large vehicle fire on the M1 North J 23 Slip road.
Fire engines from Castle Donington, Coalville and a Water Carrier from Loughborough were dispatched to a lorry that had caught on fire.
National Highways reported that the lorry was 'transporting 44 tonnes of tyres'.
The fire has now been extinguished and traffic is moving on the northbound approaching J23 however the slip road is still closed.
'It's expected that it'll be some time before the slip road will re-open'.
Traffic released on #M1 northbound approaching J23 (#Loughborough #A512). However the northbound exit slip road remains closed whilst @LeicsFireRescue continue to damp down the lorry which caught fire. Due to the load it's expected it'll be some time before the slip will re-open. pic.twitter.com/A5RgG9NtUt
