The consultation closes on the 21st November.

More information has been submitted to Leicestershire County Council as part of the application to expand Mountsorrel Quarry.

Tarmac want to add to the north and southeastern areas of the quarry and says this would increase its working life by 18 years.

Now these additional documents have been submitted to the council, and a consultation is open for residents to have their say.

Local group, Stop Mountsorrel Quarry Expansion, is urging people to use this consultation to refuse the application to extend the life of the quarry.

Here's James from Stop Mountsorrel Quarry Expansion.

Malcolm Lawer, Head of Strategic Planning and Geology – Central at Tarmac, said: “We have worked closely with the County Council and other consultees to provide the additional information requested as part of the statutory planning process. The supporting information builds on the robust environmental assessments that supported our original application. We remain committed to engaging openly with residents and stakeholders as the application progresses.”

The consultation closes on the 21st November.
