Over 7000 students in Leicestershire were offered their preferred place.
Year six pupils across the country have found out today which secondary school they will be attending in the autumn.
In Leicestershire, the percentage of children securing a first choice or preferred choice of school is higher than last year.
Over 90.5% – that’s just over 7,000 students – have been offered their preferred place when they transfer from primary to secondary this autumn.
Around 5.6% received their second choice and around 1.3% received their third choice.
Deborah Taylor, lead member for children and families at Leicestershire County Council, said: “We’re very pleased that around nine out of 10 children have secured their first choice of school and the majority of our students will be able attend a secondary school of their choice this autumn.
“If parents or carers wish to accept the place, they don’t need to do anything more.
“However, we also recognise that not every student has secured one of their preferred choices. Those children will have had an offer for their nearest school with places.”
Then in Warwickshire, 80.3% have been offered a place at their first-choice school.
A further 14.1% have been offered a place at another of their school choices, meaning a total of 94.4% have been offered a place at one of their top three preferred schools.
Cllr Kam Kaur, Portfolio Holder for Education at Warwickshire County Council said: “I’m really pleased that the number of children getting a place at one of their preferred schools continues to increase. We have many excellent schools across the county, and they continue to be popular with familes both from within Warwickshire and those living outside it. We look forward to welcoming our new secondary school children starting in September”.
