Hinckley, Nuneaton and Loughborough station ticket offices could all be at risk.

A petition has been started to try and save Hinckley's station ticket office.

A consultation has been launched by the Rail Delivery Group which could lead to some ticket office closures.

The proposals include moving staff out of ticket offices and onto station platforms 'with the potential to close ticket offices in a number of locations'.

Hinckley, Nuneaton and Loughborough station ticket offices could all be at risk.

The consultation states that on average 12% of ticket sales are from a ticket office.

Hinckley Lib Dem Councillor Michael Mullaney, said: “Many people have contacted me to say they don’t want to lose the Rail Ticket Office at Hinckley.

“Having someone at the office for a guaranteed amount of time on hand to give advice about journeys and the best priced deals is something customers value.

“People value having a person there to talk to and not just machines.

“I hope the Rail companies will listen and keep the Ticket Office at Hinckley Rail Station open."

The consultation time has been extended by the Rail Delivery Group and will now run until the  1st of September.
