Power shut off to large number of houses after fire in Rothley

This is an ongoing incident.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service have extinguished a fire at a woodworking factory on the corner of Woodgate and Wellsic Lane in Rothley.

Seven pumps were in attendance and Wellsic Lane is closed in both directions.

National Grid will be isolating 80 local properties and switching off thier electricity for a short period of time as a safety precaution. 

The fire has not spread to other buildings, but neighbouring properties have been evacuated as a precaution.

People in the area are urged to stay indoors and close their windows and doors.
