A renewed appeal for information is being made by detectives investigating a non-stop collision in Loughborough.

It happened in Rutland Street at 12.30pm on Tuesday 23 April. A 45-year-old man was walking along the pavement when a white Fiat Doblo van mounted the pavement and collided with him. The van left the scene before the emergency services arrived.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his pelvis and legs. He was later discharged.

In May, an appeal was issued to identify a man police wanted to speak to as part of their enquiries. That man was subsequently identified.

Yesterday (Thursday 18 July), police arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He has since been released under investigation.

Detective Constable James Collins, the investigating officer, said: “Although we have made an arrest in connection with this incident, I’d still like to speak to anyone who hasn’t yet contacted police.

“Please cast your mind back. I’ve little doubt there were people who saw what happened. Even though this happened in April, any information you are able to pass on could still be greatly beneficial to my investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference 19*205682.
