Due to the exceptionally hot weather currently affecting the region, Leicestershire recycling and household waste sites will close earlier than usual at 4pm today, Thursday, and Friday.
Leicestershire County Council advises that as temperatures continue to rise across the area, all Leicestershire recycling and household waste sites will close at 4pm today,(24th June) and Friday.25th June .
The decision has been made to support the health, safety and wellbeing of both residents using the facilities and the staff working on site during the current period of extreme heat.
Residents planning to visit a recycling or household waste site are advised to do so earlier in the day and allow extra time where possible.
The Authority says 'We understand that these temporary changes may cause some inconvenience and apologise for any disruption. The early closures are a precautionary measure designed to reduce the risks associated with prolonged exposure to high temperatures.'
We appreciate the public’s patience, understanding and cooperation while these arrangements are in place.
