Most of the parts are for the locomotive, Boscastle, which is currently being restored.

On Friday 1st July between 11:30 pm and 3:30 am a storage container at the locomotive repair facility at the Great Central Railway in Loughborough was broken into.

Copper piping, steam boiler valves and fittings were taken from the site and a representative of the railway has estimated the value of the theft to be £50,000.

Most of the parts are for the locomotive, Boscastle, owned by Boscastle Locomotive Ltd which is currently undergoing a significant restoration in the workshops of the Great Central Railway.

A spokesperson from Great Central Railway said: "If anyone has any information, we are hoping to be able to offer a reward for any information that will help us to catch the thieves and retrieve the parts."
