Dormice, which have been reintroduced into Leicestershire, have started breeding.

In June, over 20 hazel dormice were reintroduced into a secret woodland location at Bradgate Park.

The tiny animals are classified as ‘Vulnerable’ on the IUCN Red List for Britain’s Mammals,.

On social media, Bradgate Park has said: "This milestone is not just a win for conservation but a real testament to the dedication and hard work of

everyone involved in their release and ongoing monitoring.

"A huge thank you to everyone whose hard work made this conservation success possible, London Zoo, Twycross Zoo and our very own Bradgate Park staff and volunteers.

"Here’s to many more tiny paws in the months ahead! "
