Council tenants have been recognised for their work to improve their neighbourhoods. The Tenant Recognition Awards, organised by Charnwood Borough Council, were held at the Ramada Hotel in Loughborough.
There were four awards categories this year – the Good Neighbour award, the Most Improved Estate award, Active Tenant Involvement Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award chosen by council staff.
Tenants were nominated for helping their communities by litter picking, supporting those in need, volunteering, putting on community events, gardening in communal areas and being actively involved with the council to improve their neighbourhood.
Councillor Paul Mercer, Lead Member for Housing, said: “Congratulations to all our winners for their hard work and commitment to supporting their local community.
“Some really great things have come out of our engagement with tenants such as community gardens, family fun days and play areas for children. We really appreciate their input and enthusiasm and enjoy working with them to provide better neighbourhoods for local residents.”
The tenants received a certificate which was presented by the Mayor of Charnwood Councillor Pauline Ranson.
A certificate of recognition was also presented to the Marios Tinenti Centre and Warwick Way Action Group for all the work that they do.
