WEATHER
- The cold health alert in the East Midlands has been increased to amber.
- It is now in place until the 8th of January
- The UK Health Security Agency says that there is potential for significant impacts across health and social care services and indoor temperatures are recommended to be at 18°C.
- Severn Trent Water has advised that people wrap all pipework, fittings, and storage tanks in unheated areas of the home and insulate outside taps.
AMBULANCE
- East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EMAS) received 965 emergency and urgent calls in the first seven hours of 2025.
- They've said that The NHS expects to be busy throughout the coming days, and people are asked to use services wisely.
- The first 600 calls were received by half three in the morning on New Years Day.
