Parents and carers have until the end of the month to apply.
Applications for the 2022 intake need to be made by Sunday, October 31, 2021.
The County Council want to remind parents that they should get their applications in in plenty of time and should apply for three schools, including their catchment school, to maximise their opportunities.
Councillor Deborah Taylor, lead member for children and families, said: "Last year more than 95% of pupils received a place at one of their chosen schools, but late applications run the risk of missing out. There is no automatic entry for school in Leicestershire, so it is vital that applications be submitted before the closing date."
Last year the council received 7,400 on-time applications for secondary school places, 88.9% secured their first choice and 95.4% secured one of their top three school choices.
A range of information is available from Leicestershire County Council to help families start applying and state their school preferences.
Parents and carers who cannot apply online can request a form to be sent to them by calling 0116 305 6684.
