The council have reported it to the police.
Overnight, Loughborough's War Memorial the Carillon Tower has been vandalised with graffiti.
Charnwood Borough Council is removing the graffiti and will be liaising with specialist stonemasons to ensure the stonework is not further damaged while it is cleaned off.
They've reported the incident to the police and are encouraging anyone with information to report it to the police.
Charnwood Borough Council said: "We are disgusted that the Town’s War Memorial – the Carillon Tower in Queen’s Park, Loughborough - has been vandalised overnight with graffiti, particularly so close to Remembrance Day when we will be honouring those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
"We are reviewing CCTV footage in the area. There are already existing plans to add further CCTV to the park.
"However, ultimately the individuals responsible for this mindless and offensive act should reflect upon their despicable actions."
