Warwickshire Recycling Centres to Temporarily Close During Peak Heat Hours

Warwickshire County Council has announced temporary changes to the operating hours of its recycling centres on Wednesday 24 June and Thursday 25 June 2026 due to extreme weather conditions and a Red Heat-Health Alert.

Warwickshire County Council has confirmed that all recycling centres across the county will temporarily close during the middle of the day on Wednesday 24 June and Thursday 25 June 2026 in response to forecast extreme temperatures and the current Red Heat-Health Alert.

The decision has been made to safeguard the health, safety and wellbeing of both site visitors and recycling centre staff during the hottest periods of the day, when temperatures are expected to reach potentially hazardous levels.

Temporary Opening Hour Changes

Wednesday 24 June 2026

All Warwickshire recycling centres will close at 1:00pm.

Sites that normally operate with late opening hours on Wednesdays will reopen at 3:00pm and continue operating until their usual closing time of 6:15pm.

Exception: The Shipston Recycling Centre does not operate late opening hours and will therefore remain closed for the rest of the day after 1:00pm.

Thursday 25 June 2026

All recycling centres will close at 1:00pm and remain closed for the rest of the day.

Public Advice

Residents planning to visit a recycling centre during this period are encouraged to adjust their travel plans and visit outside of the affected hours where possible. The temporary closures are intended to minimise exposure to extreme heat and ensure the continued safe operation of recycling services across Warwickshire.
