HINCKLEY’S Hollycroft Park will come alive with the sound of music when the popular Proms in the Park concert on Saturday 8 June.
Organised by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, the free open-air concert will feature performances from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Orchestra, an ensemble comprising more than 50 talented young musicians.
Under the baton of acclaimed conductor Douglas Mitchell, the RBC Wind Orchestra will be performing a feast of well-known music including much-loved scores from films Star Wars ‘The Force Awakens’ and ‘Dambusters’. Scottish Dances by Malcom Arnold and music by Bernstein from Candide, with Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No 1 and Walton’s Crown Imperial ensuring that the concert ends in true flag-waving style.
The event is free to attend, and no booking is necessary. However, capacity is limited in the auditorium area and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The event gates will open at 5pm with the concert starting at 6pm. The event is due to finish at 8.30pm. Please queue to enter the auditorium from the gate entrance on Hollycroft just before Westray Drive, entry into the auditorium area is not possible from other points.
The orchestra will be joined by singer Samantha Oxborough, a graduate of The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and notably sang the National Anthem at The Commonwealth Games in 2022.
Local business Bond Street Distillery will be providing an outdoor bar for adult visitors to enjoy, and stalls will also be available selling tea, coffee and ice cream.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead, please pick up after your dog.
The park's car park will only be available for Blue Badge holders, with a member of staff positioned at the gate - spaces are limited. We recommend that people use public transport or walk to the event where possible. If you are driving, please park in town centre car parks and walk to the event rather than using residential on-street parking. There will be temporary no waiting or loading restrictions in place on Westray Drive from 3pm on the day of the event.
