The proposal is to create a pedestrian link between Market Street and Swan Street.
An application has been submitted to Charnwood Borough Council to demolish part of the Carillon Court shopping centre in Loughborough.
The proposal is to get rid of Units 12, 27, and 28 and partial demolition of Unit 26 in order to create a pedestrian link between Market Street and Swan Street.
In the planning letter, it states that 'the ultimate intention for Carillon Court includes its redevelopment for a mixed-use scheme.
However, whilst these proposals are being formulated, it is considered beneficial for a new pedestrian link to be created from Market Street to Swan Street to avoid the need for members of the public to walk through a mall of empty retail units, which are in the process of being cleared of
asbestos and stripped out.'
A consultation on the application is open until the 29th of October 2025.
