The programme of entertainment events scheduled for the Civic Hall will continue to be suspended until further notice.

So far, more than 80,000 Nuneaton and Bedworth residents have received at least one vaccination, with the Civil Hall site providing the highest number of these.

Cllr Julian Gutteridge, portfolio holder for Health and Environment at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council said: "Our first priority as a council is the safety and wellbeing of all our residents. We would love to resume Bedworth Civic Hall events now, but we must ensure people get their vaccinations safely and promptly.

"The Civic Hall is by far the biggest venue locally that can handle the vaccination of the thousands of people who need this protection, safely and efficiently.

"The vaccination programme has operated very effectively in Nuneaton and Bedworth, and we are proud to be able to say the Civic Hall has made a big contribution. We will resume our programme of events as soon as we are able."

Anyone over 25 can book a Covid vaccination either via the NHS website or by calling 119.

Rob Spencer, Head of Operations for the COVID vaccination centres at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) said: “On behalf of CWPT and the vaccination team we are pleased we will be able to continue to support the programme at the Civic Hall in the coming months.

“We want to help continue the success of the local vaccination programme and we would encourage residents to take up their second vaccine to ensure maximum protection against the virus and for people who are eligible to come forward and book their first vaccination appointment as soon as they are invited.

“The success of the vaccination programme is one of the key factors that will help take us out of lockdown and with evidence suggesting the variant first discovered in India is 40 per cent more transmissible than the variant in Kent, and daily cases on the rise, residents are urged to come forward to help protect themselves and others from serious illness from Coronavirus.”

People aged 39 and under who are eligible and pregnant women will be offered the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine in line with updated Joint Committee on Vaccinations and Immunisation (JCVI) guidance.
