The explosions are part of renewed operations at the site which is under three miles from Stoney Stanton.
It's the first of what could be a number of blasts as Aggregate Industries, the operators of Croft quarry, have applied to continue working at the site for the much of the year.
In a statement on their website, Huncote Parish Council said:
"We have been advised by Aggregate Industries, the operators of Croft quarry, that they will be recommencing mineral extraction within their permitted area."
The first blast is scheduled for the week commencing the 11th March 2021. All blasting would be undertaken between 12-2pm.
The company have also advised that under the current approved planning application that they anticipate all reserves to be exhausted within 8 months. Planning applications have been submitted to Leicestershire County Council to extend the quarrying operation, which would extend the life of the quarry, and await determination.
