More 750 vulnerable people in Warwickshire received support packages last week.

In Nuneaton and Bedworth around 150 parcels were sent out on one day with many more going out over the next few days.

Since the Government advised people with serious underlying medical conditions to shield themselves from COVID-19 by isolating for 12 weeks, the borough’s public, voluntary and community services have worked around the clock to set up support structures for them.

It has been a huge coordination task between the county’s six councils, emergency services, the Fire and Rescue Service, Police, CCGs and the voluntary and community sectors, supported by military planners.

Cllr Julie Jackson, Leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, said:

“We, as an authority, are proud to be taking part in this vital initiative. We know these are times of uncertainty and a large amount of vulnerable people in our Borough are concerned about getting a regular supply of food and we will do anything we can to help and to reassure them.

“We are attempting to help our community in these challenging times and will continue to do so for as long as is necessary.’’
